PTA President’s Letter

Dear Addison Community – 

Welcome back to returning families and welcome to families who are new to Addison this year! Although this year will again look a bit different, It makes me so happy to see our children returning to campus together. The past year and half have shown how supportive, resilient, and resourceful our community can be. As we begin the 2021-2022 school year, the PTA Executive Board remains focused on supporting our students, families, teachers, and staff in every way we can. We do this with our advocacy, community building, and partnering with Principal Boyce to determine critical funding needs for Addison. Our most important work remains to advocate for every child. I strongly encourage you to join the PTA and become more involved in shaping how education will move forward.

We are proud of the role the PTA plays to support our school with items such as student learning materials, teacher grants, library books, field trips, enrichment programs for students, and community-building family events throughout the year. The Addison Auction is a storied part of our history; our main fundraiser which fosters community building, memories, and friendships both during the event and the parties that follow. However, with the evolving nature of COVID-19, we are again adjusting our approach for the 2021-22 school year. In order to ensure the safest learning experience for our children, we will postpone this fundraiser for now and so, we would like to directly ask for your support. A $200 per student donation is recommended, however we encourage families to give any amount appropriate for your financial situation. On behalf of the PTA Executive Board, I thank you in advance for your support.

PTA Payments will be handled through the online One Payment Form or by submitting a check/cash to the PTA folder via paper forms (available in the School Office). We hope everyone considers the online one payment form – it is secure and it saves the PTA a large number of data entry and bookkeeping hours!

Please find Back-to-School information, such as the Back to School Packet and Helpful Resources on this site. Printed packets will be available in the School Office starting on August 12th. A limited number of paper packets are being printed, therefore if demand is higher than expected there may be two-three days needed for processing requests. 

We wish everyone a successful 2021-2022 school year – and look forward to seeing you all (virtually) at the Back to School Welcome on Thursday, August 12th at 4:00pm. During this event you will have the opportunity to get an update from Principal Boyce and hear about some of this year’s activities!

PARENTS RAISE OVER $700 FOR ADDISON

Thanks to the generosity of Mendocino Farms restaurant and the support of our Addison families, we were able to raise over $700 at Give Back Night. On January 15th, over 45 families ate dinner at the restaurant, where 50% of all proceeds went to our school. Thanks to all of you for continuing to support our educational programs, field trips, library, and extracurricular activities at Addison!

Wednesday, January 15th, will be “GIVE BACK TO ADDISON NIGHT” at Mendocino Farms. The restaurant has been a wonderful champion of Addison and continues to donate funds to our school. Please show your support by joining other Addison families for dinner between 5:00–8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 15th.

Bring the Addison flier (in your Monday take-home envelopes) and Mendocino Farms will donate 50% of your entire purchase directly to our school! This is an easy way to earn money for our programs and teachers.
